Chinese food and waayy too cold!!!

Hello from the Frozen Chosen!
How are you all doing? This week was crazy, it was in the -40's all week!!! Then on Wednesday, it was -51!!! Which for hose of you who don't speak Celcius, that's -58 fahrenheit!!!!!! It was insane! We aren't allowed to go out past -40 unless we have appointments and stuff , and then we aren't supposed to go out at all past -50. It was crazy.
But besides the cold, we finally got our car back! All nice and dent free! It's so nice! Our teaching pool is so small right now, it's kinda sad. BUT! We had a really cool miracle happen. Queena, this lady we are teaching, called us! I don't know if I have explained this before, but Queena has a house in China that she has to sell so that she can come back to Saskatoon and be baptized! So we keep in touch with her and keep teaching her. She is soo amazing, when we were talking to her, she said a really great prayer to start the lesson, and then she kept talking about how much she loves God and how when she takes the sacrament she feels close to the Savior. So we are super excited for her. I hope she can come back soon so she can get baptized. Sister Southwick and I did a fast for her to sell her house, but if you would all please pray for her this week, that would be great.
So on Sunday, this cute chinese family we are teaching fed all the missionaries in our district. It was so great! They made pork, dumplings, dumpling thing with red bean paste, and some soup with tofu and chinese mushrooms in it!! I love Chinese food but I think I like fake chinese food better lol but the day before that, we had and made these dumplings so now we're dumplinged out I think lol.Oh there was this dessert they make that's made of rice gelatin, and that wasn't bad haha just chewy....it was good.
But this week hasn't been all that interesting other than those experiences. So yeah, just remember that God loves you so much and you are so important to His plan. He has so much planned for you if you will trust in Him! I know that no matter where you are in life, you can turn to Him and He will guide you!
I love you all so much and I hope you have a great week!

Grind Week-Shoveling and walking

Hey hey, everybody! How was your week? Ours was crazy! We tracted sooooo much this week. Why? Because yours truly can't really drive thru a carwash so we had to go get our front fender fixed. That means we were walking a lot and relying on the Sisters to drop us off and pick us up. It's been good though. No complaints. Not from me, anyways....Sister Southwick is still getting used to the Canadian winters lol But yeah, it's been great! We walked all the way from the church to Fuddrucker's which was about a 30 minute walk in -30's....little bit chilly ðŸ˜‚ then the next day we walked about 2 kilometers from our last appointment towards home before the sisters came to pick us up. They had a lesson that ran late but it all worked out!
We shovelled a lot of drives this week. One of the people we shovelled was a cute family who just had to take their dog to be put down and the dad was out of town so they really appreciated the help. It was fun! We also shovelled the driveway of an old man who said he wasn't interested in the Gospel when we first met him, but his heart really softened when we wouldn't let him pay us. It was so cute. It's so fun to see people's hearts change when you offer free service or when you don't try to convert them on their front step. Sometimes it takes looking at them from different angles.
Something we have been doing lately is an online scripture study to help us find some new friends so if you get some time, go watch our videos, ask/answer questions, and share with everyone you can! You can find it by searching @SaskatoonScriptureStudy on Facebook! Thank's y'all!
Something that I learned this week comes from the YSA devotional from last night. I LOVED when Elder Christofferson said "You can't have everything, where would you put it?" It's so true! We can not sit on the fence of life. If we don't make choices, we will never have anything but a scrambled life. I don't know about you but I prefer my life to be not scrambled! As Elder Christofferson was talking, I learned that we really don't need everything! All we need is the faith that Heavenly Father will provide for us and the knowledge that the Savior died for us so that we could live forever. Everything else will take care of itself as we work hard to make good choices. Make a choice and commit to it! Or as our elders say, FULL SEND IT! Make the choice to follow Christ and send it! I promise that when you do, your life will be full of beautiful experiences and memories that you will treasure in your eternal life. The temporal riches and what not won't be in the Celestial Kingdom with us. It will be the education we chose to receive, the memories we made, and the hearts we made light. I know God lives and loves each one of us and He wants us to make good choices! Be strong and have a great week, everyone, I love you!

New Years and no new news!

Hey everyone! I apologize for this email, but it's gonna be really short. I really don't have any interesting things to tell this week. New year's was pretty boring, we stayed inside all day since we weren't able to proselyte. I have started to learn Spanish in my spare time by reading the Book of Mormon in Spanish! It's cool, I've got most of the title page memorized haha but other than that, not much has been going on! We started a new page on Facebook where we're doing a scripture study on Wednesdays and Saturdays! Go follow it on Facebook! It's called Saskatoon Online Scripture Study, you can look up @Saskatoonscripturestudy
Also, a cool thing happened where this lady's cat stepped on her keyboard and deleted an important document and she couldn't figure out how to get it back so we went over to help her and we got it back! It doesn't seem like a miracle when I say it out loud but it was! Haha it was great!
Anyways, I wanted to tell you that I am so excited to study the Book of Mormon this year for Come, Follow Me! I hope you will do it! It will be an amazing experience as you prayerfully study and live its teachings! I hope you are all super excited about April General Conference! There's a really cool fan made trailer someone made, it's on my Facebook page! I hope you all have a great week, sorry my emails keep getting more and more lame! I love you  all and I will talk to you next week!

Happy New Year!

Hello everyone!! How are you doing this week? I hope you are doing well! Our week has been pretty good. A little slow but good. We had a wonderful Christmas! And for the first time in my life, I watched Star Wars 1! It was pretty good. I can officially say I am a fan! There wasn't much that happened this week, honestly, it was a pretty slow week. We did find a new person though, so that's cool. Oh, and we had a really nice member who's also got a huge house in the country, invite us over for dinner yesterday. It was so much fun. Her husband let us pet his polar bear rug that he is going to hang up. He is a big hunter and fisher, it's awesome!
It seemed like something we talked about a lot this week was eternal families and the plan of Salvation. So with Christmas behind us and a new year dawning, I want to share a few of my thoughts with you.
We are so loved. Each day when we wake up we have the opportunity to start fresh and make it the best day ever. Now, we have a new year to look forward to! With that in mind, I want to call your attention to one of the most important parts of the Plan of Salvation; our Earth life and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Because of the Atonement, we get to become better and better every single day! I know that Jesus Christ will always be there to help us grow into who we need to become. So this year, I want you to make a list of 5 ways you will use the Atonement to become the best person you can be! Study the Book of Mormon, pray, and really focus on preparing yourself to take the sacrament each week. I know that as you do these things, 2020 will be the best year ever! This world is getting darker and darker but as we turn to the Light of the World, we will be able to rise above it and make 2020 a very special year! I love you all and I hope you have an amazing week! Happy New Year!!! For the last time in 2019, I love you all and I will talk to you next week!
Love,
Sister Talbot
