Quarantined

Hello friends! This week has been really. really. LONG...... haha jokes, it's not been that bad, we've actually been able to find a couple new friends to talk to, been on a good walk, and done some fun activities. Not much to report this week, seeing as we have been in our apartment all week. But that's okay because the work just keeps rolling! I hope you have all been staying home so this virus will go away! If you're not staying home or practicing social distancing, please do, because I'm sick of being quarantined 😂🙏 but other than that, something cool that happened this week was I studied a lot about trusting in the Lord and let me tell y'all, there is no better feeling than being able to trust in the Lord and allow His peace to enter your heart. There's no greater peace than that which He gives us! I'm sorry this email is so short but I don't have a ton else to say except for I love you and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love ya,
Sister Talbot  ❤️

All my pics this week are to cheer everyone up! Except for the one with the rake and tea candle, that's my zen garden that I made! Cute, hey? Anyways, have a good week!!

Has anyone looked in the camping section?

Hello fellow survivors 🤣 I shouldn't joke, it's a serious matter, but still....we were standing in line in the grocery store yesterday and we saw a People magazine with a title that said "I survived the Coronavirus, one man's story" i about lost my mind 🤣 like come on people. But it's true, it's a quick spreading thing so wash your hands, people, don't be one of those grodies that leaves the bathroom without washing your hands properly. 😷🧐 Scrub them things!
To explain my title for this week, I remembered a joke from Bill Engvall I heard once about rapidly dissolving toilet paper and I wondered.... Has anyone thought about taking a stroll through the camping section and buying some of that? I'm sure it'll last you long enough. 😅 Hehe anyways, I hope you have all had a good week. Our week was fun! We had zone conference and it was really good. We've had to stay inside for most of the week because we haven't felt the best but we managed to find 6 new friends!! They are all very different which is cool...ones from Mexico and speaks Spanish, the others are German but have lived in Mexico and the others are a cute Mennonite family. I think it's so cool how even in the middle of nowhere, there's so many different cultures still!
When we found our Mexican friend, he thought we spoke Spanish and kept talking to us in that language, it was funny because I haven't taken Spanish since my first 2 years of HS and he said " Que es tu nombre?" 'What is your name? and at first, I thought he asked our number and told him that, then it registered with Sister Smith that he wanted our names. So she said 'Hermana Smith and Hermana Talbot.' Thank goodness for the tiny bit of Spanish I've been learning on Duolingo and for the Spirit helping us to understand!! 😂
We were suprised when we found out that church had been cancelled worldwide due to the Corona virus, but I know that everything is done in the Lord's knowledge and time. As we trust in Him and His plan, we will be able to have the comfort and peace we need to get through these 'frightening' and 'unsure' times. President Nelson's videos were very comforting as well.
We had to get a carwash the other day as our car was really dirty, however the day after we got it clean it just got super dirty again. So, I think we win the prize for the quickest car to get dirty! ...I promise, we do try to avoid the dirt and puddles. It just doesn't help when it snows and melts all the time haha.☀️ Also this week, Sister Smith and I have been drinking lots of herbal teas...I think I'm hooked haha! Anyway, she's gotten me to start liking them! So now we have a great variety of herbal teas at home which encourages us to drink more water...which is both of our goals. It's certainly a win/win situation! But on the other hand, it brings us back full circle to the tp situation! Hahaha anyways, it's been a good week and I'm so thankful to know that the Lord is at the helm of all this and He knows what is best for all of us. All we can do is continue to prepare spiritually and physically and trust in the Lord by following His commandments. And using common sense. Please stop panicking!! It makes everyone else panic too when there isn't a thing to worry about that the Lord has not already taken care of. He's watching over us y'all, just trust Him! I love you all so much and I hope you have a wonderful week.

My First Week in Winkler!

Okay well it hasn't been a whole week since I got here, it's only been a few days but it's close enough! I am loving it here in Winkler and I am very happy to be serving with Sister Smith, she's wonderful!! ❤️ This week, I said goodbye to lots of people in Saskatoon and said hello to lots of wonderful new friends in Winkler. I'm happy to be here and I'm excited for the experiences ahead! Yesterday, we saw a super cool miracle! Sister Smith has felt very inspired to go through our list of people who have been taught previously so we did, and stopped by a family she felt good about. So we did and got to talk to them for a while! They are very nice and really interested in the Book of Mormon! Then after that, we had about half an hour left and we both felt like we should do another stop by. At the same time she was looking for another street to go to, I had the name Victoria pop into my head. So I asked if there was a Victoria St. and she said that she was looking at one on our map!! So we went there, parked and looked around before we prayed. Then after we prayed, we decided to go to 3 houses near us that had porch lights on. On the 3rd and last house we knocked on, they let us in and we were able to give them a Book of Mormon! The Spirit was really strong in both lessons it was great!
But yeah! I'm so excited for this transfer, it's going to be great! Our group doesn't even have a church, we meet in a library! We gave talks yesterday too about member missionary work. They were really good. Its a fun little group too. Lots of cute families. But anyways, I want to share a little bit from my talk yesterday.
It's from D&C 123:17 and it says, "Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."
I love this scripture because it reminds me that we need to do all we can to make the good things happen in our lives. God can't give us blessings if we don't put ourselves in the right places to receive them! ❤️ But I know that Heavenly Father wants to and will bless you as you choose to happily, or with a good attitude, do all you can to put yourself in the position to be blessed! I love you all and I hope you have a wonderful week this week!

Goodbye Saskatoon, Hello Winkler!!

That's right! I am heading back to Manitoba! I will be with a sister I met back when I was in Selkirk! She's very sweet so I know this transfer is going to be awesome! I am also very sad to be leaving Sister Southwick, she's been such a great companion! She is goin to be taking over this area so I am excited for her, she'll do great! Anyways, this week has been really good. We were getting into spring, had my rainboots out, even my rain jacket! And then 2 nights ago, the wind was just howling all night, it was ridiculous. But what did we wake up to the day after it was like 7 degrees celsius? SNOW!!!!! Like a good 2 inches of it! Disgusting, really, but hey, we're alive so I guess it's not that bad! Haha so this week, we had stake conference, and it was so awesome. The speakers were so good and so inspired! I swear every talk had something that I needed to hear. Especially on sunday, there was this talk that I loved from our bishop's wife, and it was all about what we look for in our lives! She was talking about how when we look for the negative things in our lives, we will find them, and it is so true! When we look for the bad in someone or we choose to see the glass as half empty, we forget that the glass is refillable! If we stop comparing ourselves to others and judging others and just choose to be happy and have better attitudes, we will!! I promise, it works, i've had to do it many a time throughout my mission. When we choose to be happy and positive and we look for that in those around us, we will find it and we will be much happier. So I am out of time, I'm sorry for the short email, but I hope you all choose to have a wonderful week! For the last time in Saskatoon,

Listening to the Spirit=Safety!

Hi y'all! This week was interesting. We had a fairly good week that was pretty uneventful. Until Friday that is. Friday night we went to our Bishop's house for Dinner and it was super yummy! They also have cute dogs. But anyways, afterwards, we were going to go finding and stop by this member so we went back to the highway and we accidentally missed the main road to his house so we decided to take this back road the map showed. But when we started driving it, the road was pretty bad and snowy, and I was thinking, "this is a bad road!" so I thought about turning around, and then I got covered head to toe in what I call "Warning Chills" from the Spirit, so we turned around and got back on the main road. Luckily we were only up the road a few yards from the main one. Then, after we stopped by the less active, we went back to Clavet to do some finding, as we planned to do. Well, we were gonna go stop by a former but we couldn't find her house so we went down this street at the end of the main road, and I was a little nervous to tract in the dark in this town, since it was unfamiliar. So when I saw this house, I pulled over to the side of the road to park, and I saw this statue across the street that was in no way evil looking or scary, but I just didn't like it so I said to Sister Southwick, "I don't like that statue, I'm gonna pull down there." So I pulled the car down the road a ways, and then parked again but I was still a little hesitant. So I asked Sister Southwick how she felt about tracting here, and told her I didn't really feel good about it. She agreed and said she felt off about the street too. We both had chills that got stronger as we drove down the road to turn around so we left quite quickly and did not feel better until we reached the lights in Saskatoon. It was so scary. We had the feeling that something was following us back until we came into the city, and it wasn't completely gone until we came to the church. Scary stuff! So yeah, following what the Spirit tells you is what will keep you physically and spiritually safe! Other than that wild adventure, the only other exciting thing that happened this week was exchanges with our Sister Training Leaders. It was really fun. We were able to do some stop bys and street contacting. It was fun! But yeah, sorry to disappoint with no more exciting stories, but I hope you have all had a wonderful week! I also hope you are preparing for General Conference! It's gonna be so awesome! I encourage you to really take advantage of your studies of the Restoration because whatever is coming for us in April, we need to be spiritually prepared! I love you all and I hope you have an amazing week!

P. S. I'm the worst for two reasons! I didn't take any pictures this week and I didn't send my email last week so I am sending last week's email and this week's! Haha sorry! Have a great week! 😊 ❤️

Deer steak and Bible Basher

你好(Nihao!)Has anyone else's week been crazy?? Ours was wild. To make a long story short, we met this guy who wanted to know more about the Church. Well, he learned a little but mostly he just talks the entire time we meet with him and tells us about how this and that is wrong with the KJV of the Bible and the names of Jesus and the names of the people in the Book of Mormon. So yeah its been tough in that aspect. But other than that, it's been good. We had 2 of our awesome Chinese friends come to church and they really liked it! Another cool experience we had is we knocked on this door and a girl answered and we asked if we could do free service but she said she wasn't interested. But then I told her about the Book of Mormon and about God's love for her. She took the Book of Mormon and said we could come back! Super exciting. But sadly I don't have much time to write an email this week sorry! I will write more next week. Have a great week and know that God loves you so much!! ❤️ ❤️
